SecuBox is a program designed by Aiko Solutions for protecting confidential information on smartphones, PDAs and pocket PCs. This data encryption algorithm is compatible with mobile devices running on the Windows Mobile OS. Not only does SecuBox safeguard the information in the mobile gadgets, but also in the media cards associated with these gadgets. If a mobile phone with the SecuBox software gets stolen, the owner need not worry about losing his private, confidential or official information to unauthorised people. However, this security software cannot track down the lost gadget.
Working of SecuBox:-
This software creates a virtual drive or a hidden storage space within the device in which it is installed. This space is password protected and will not be viewable in the explorer of the device. Any data that is sensitive must be written into this space. The SecuBox utility automatically encrypts the data using the AES 256-bit encryption standard. You can access the data whenever you want, by going through SecuBox, after providing the password. The information automatically gets decrypted for you. Once you are done using this data, you can either manually unmount it, to make it hidden again; or the software automatically does it for you when the device goes into sleep mode or after a particular amount of inactivity time.
The AES 256-bit encryption is a Advanced Encryption Standard which has been employed by the US government.
Compatibility:-
For Smartphones, SecuBox is compatible with Windows Mobile 6 and more.
For Pocket PCs, the security feature can work with Windows Mobile 5.0; Windows Mobile Professional and Classic versions 6.0, 6.1.
For other handsets, the utility offers compatibility with Windows CE 3, 4, 4.1, 4.2, 5, 5.2.
Processors-wise, SecuBox can work with the different versions of SH3, SH4, ARM, X86, MIPS processors.
Attractive Features:-
Information stored in a variety of memory cards like SD cards, flash cards etc can also be encrypted. If you want to delete a confidential file, SecuBox will ensure that it is completely removed from the device. Other options and features include encryption key back-up, password strength meter, command line usage, configurable storage properties, integration with Windows Mobile File Explorer, easy installation, usage and management.
SecuBox Data Encryption is claimed to be so strong by its makers, that there is no way of retrieving the encrypted data apart from logging in with the password. No hacking or decrypting mechanisms can help get the data. Even the company themselves cannot use any back-door techniques for accessing the secure information. Hence a user ought to remember his password.
Many of Asus, HTC, O2, Motorola, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Samsung, Palm, Orange and other smartphones can support this software. As Apple iPhones and Nokia handsets do not use Windows Mobile OS, this software might not work on them. Pricing details and more information are available on the official website of Aiko Solutions.
