Acer's first Android powered mobile handset, the Acer Liquid A1 Smartphone will start shipping this later this month in the UK market.
The Acer Liquid A1 runs on the Android v1.6 also called as Donut. It is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is capable of 1GHz speed, but has been under-clocked to 768MHz. The mobile handheld has a 3.5" capacitive touchscreen offers a WVGA resolution. Acer have given the user interface some native treatment as well.
This gadget supports all popular connectivity options - Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, WiFi, and accesses internet pages at high speeds, with its 3G ability (HSDPA). GPS is supported as well. A 5MP camera has been integrated within too.
The Acer Liquid A1 Mobile Handset has been priced at £286 exclusive of tax. It will be available with the retailer - Clove.

The Acer Liquid Mobile Phone is going to become the most awaited phone now. Why? For the first time, the world will see the joint efforts of the Android OS and the Snapdragon processor. Since Snapdragon processors are known for their high processing speeds, the Acer Liquid mobile handset can be expected to be the fastest Android smartphone, presently.
The offerings of this handheld seem quite impressive. The Android 1.6 OS, popularly known as Donut runs in the background. The Snapdragon processor, which has a clock speed of 1GHz, has been clocked down to 768MHz. The gizmo sports a 3.5" WVGA capacitive touchscreen. WiFi and 3G are supported. Acer F1 Mobile Phone which made its debut appearance before the world at Computex, Taiwan, this year, is about to debut in the UK market now. All set for a release on October 6, 2009, this phone is sure to hold the consumer crowd's attention, with its interesting specifications list.
The Acer F1 is a smartphone featuring the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. It sports a 3.8" touchscreen display, with a high resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. An accelerometer is present for auto-rotation of the display too. This mobile gadget supports tri-band HSPA. This ability should give the Acer F1 good speeds of internet access. Quad band GSM is supported for voice signals as well. While this mobile handset houses a 256MB RAM and a 512MB ROM, it also has a microSD memory card slot. This slot can hold cards with a maximum capacity of 32GB.
This gadget supports Bluetooth. Thus you can link this handheld with other compatible devices without wires. The memory cards can also be used for information sharing. The best part about Acer F900 Smartphone is its large touch-sensitive screen, which measures 3.8” diagonally. The resolution presented is a praise-worthy 480 x 800 pixels. Acer has come out with an interface called the Acer Shell which in conjunction with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS (come pre-loaded) gives a very innovative way of portraying the widgets on the screen. It features a virtual 3D office desk like look. Widgets like calendar, photo frame (for photos gallery), telephone (for contacts), music player, envelope (for emails) and more can be arranged on the desk. More important & frequently used applications can be placed ahead, while the others can be dragged behind. The widgets placed ahead appear bigger in size than the ones placed behind. You can also switch to the commonly used icon-based menu as found on other mobile phones, if you are not impressed by the Acer Shell.
When in the sunlight, this screen can also double as a mirror. Hence you might find it a little difficult to operate it on a sunny day, owing to the glare.
There is a built-in 3.2 Megapixel camera in this handset. It features autofocus, flash, still as well as video recording. Geo-tagging is supported too. A music player is packed inside the phone also.
