Dell Streak Tablet
June 2, 2010
The Dell Streak is stepping into the market at a time when the iPad is king. Bravo Dell Streak! There's good reason for the 5-inch multi-touch screen tablet to walk into the market with its head held high as well. It is larger than regular touchscreen smartphones, but smaller than the iPad. Thus it offers something more than the average smartphone and is yet more easy to hold and carry around than the iPad. Plus, it is packed with an impressive set of specs, including some that the iPad lacks.

The Dell Streak, which was earlier referred to as the Dell Mini 5, is based on Android v1.6. An upgrade to Froyo, the latest Android (2.2), is supposed to be offered later on in 2010. Like the iPad, this tablet too has a 1GHz processor running on the inside.
The screen offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This large display should give a better video and movie watching experience than the average smartphones. There's multi-touch support too. So you can pinch or expand the content. Another interesting aspect is that the screen is made of gorilla glass which makes it really rugged.
A full fledged networking set is presented – 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. Therefore you can browse the internet or check emails at WiFi hotspots or use the service provider's network for mobile broadband. With Bluetooth, you can exchange files with other gadgets. Apart from this, there's a USB port as well for connecting to a PC or a laptop. MicroSD cards of a maximum capacity of 32GB are supported too. These cards can be used for memory expansion as well as data transfers with other devices. There's even 2GB of internal memory. GPS ability and an e-compass are also present.
The Dell Streak specs include a 5MP camera with dual LED flash and auto-focus as well. There's a front facing VGA camera for video chats too.
Some features that are offered by Dell Streak and not by the iPad – Multi-tasking; Adobe Flash with an upgrade to the latest version later on this year; camera; phone calls/video calls; USB connectivity.
Dell Streak Release Date – The tablet is supposed to be releasing this Friday, the 4th of June 2010.
Dell Streak Price – This device is supposed to cost £429. It will also be available with O2 contracts. It currently features in the coming soon list on the O2 UK website.

April 26, 2010
Dell Lightning is Dell's first smartphone to feature Microsoft's latest mobile phone platform, the Windows Phone 7 OS. So, this new smartphone will be home to all those goodies that come along with Microsoft's new mobile phone platform - like the Xbox Live on the phone console, Zune for music, the 6 hubs and more. Plus, the most exciting news about this handset is that it will be upgradable to LTE during the last quarter of 2011!
The Dell Lightning smartphone is a portrait slider. It has a 4.1" WVGA OLED touchscreen. The 1GHz Snapdragon looks after processing. Being an advanced smartphone, it packs in the full fledged networking set, which includes support for WiFi, 3.5G networks and Bluetooth. GPS is also supported by this Windows Phone 7 phone.

A 5MP camera with autofocus is said to be packed within the Dell Lightning mobile phone. Plus there is an accelerometer, a compass and built-in FM radio. While the initial release of the Windows Phone 7 OS will not offer support for Flash, Microsoft might add the feature later on.

Dell Smoke Mobile Phone
April 25, 2010
Dell Smoke is one among the Android mobile phones revealed by Dell recently. This is also an Android FroYo based handset like the Dell Flash; Froyo being a new Android version, after Eclair.
The Dell Smoke mobile phone looks like a lean mean business machine. Despite having a candybar form factor with a QWERTY keyboard, (a design usually associated with the Blackberry), the Smoke has been very creatively crafted to look different from the Blackberry. It is more sleek and svelte. However, it still remains to see how this little guy will fare when it comes to ease of use. The keys look very closely packed - a nice catalyst for typos.
Apart from this supposed drawback, the rest of the features the Smoke possesses look swell. Except for the form factor, it is quite similar to the Dell Flash in terms of specs. There's a 2.8" QVGA screen. An 800MHz processor sits at the heart handling processing.
Both WiFi and mobile broadband connectivity are offered for internet connection. 3.5G networks are supported, apart from EDGE, GPRS and GSM. Uploading and downloading are said to happen at 5.76Mbps and 14.4Mbps respectively. Web 2.0 full html, WAP and Flash 10 are supported. Apart from emails, social networks and instant messenger, you can even stay in touch via SMS, MMS and of-course, calls. The Dell Smoke mobile phone is equipped with a microSD card slot (max - 32GB), Bluetooth compliance, a microUSB port and Over-the-Air sync ability.
Document viewing/editing tools like Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Excel, Organiser and more help you with official work.
A 5MP camera is packed within this Dell mobile phone. A media player and a standard 3.5mm headphone socket are present as well.
You can expect a talk time of 6 hours and a stand-by of 576 hours with this mobile handset.
Dell Smoke release date has reportedly been scheduled for Q2 2011.
Dell Flash Mobile Phone
April 24, 2010
The Dell Flash smartphone is the latest Android offering from this renowned laptop maker. It is based on Android Froyo, the new Android version after Eclair (2.1). The word "Froyo" is supposed to be short for 'Frozen Yoghurt'.
The Flash is equipped with a 3.5" WVGA touchscreen. The 800MHz Qualcomm processor is employed for handling internal operations.
On the networking front, there's support for WiFi, 3.5G, EDGE and GPRS networks. This handheld promises download speeds of 14.4Mbps and upload speeds of 5.76Mbps. The WAP browser comes built within. There's support for Web 2.0 full html and Flash 10. An array of options to keep in touch with people are available - SMS, MMS, calls, IM, emails, social networks.
Interconnecting with other devices like the PC can be done via USB or Bluetooth. Plus, microSD cards of up to 64GB capacity are supported too.
Entertainment-wise, there's a media player and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There's also a TV output. A 5MP camera with LED flash, 8x digital zoom and image stabilisation is built into this mobile handset. You can capture both videos and stills with it.
Other features offered are A-GPS, handwriting recognition, e-compass, proximity sensor and accelerometer. The battery life quoted is 12 hours for talk and 720 hours on stand-by.
Being an advanced Android mobile phone, the Dell Flash seems well geared up to take on the biggies in the market. This smartphone is expected to start shipping early in 2011, hopefully with some enticing mobile phone offers. It is mentioned to be tied up with AT&T in the US. However, nothing specific has been made known for the UK market yet.
