HTC Desire Mobile Phone
March 3, 2010
HTC Desire is a cousin of the Google Nexus One. Both smartphones share common roots (HTC made them both). While most of their specifications are the same, the major differences lie in their native applications. The HTC Desire being a HTC branded phone offers the HTC Sense user interface, which makes socialising, searching for information and organising contacts and interactions under one roof. The Nexus One has more widespread access to Google's services like Gmail, Google Voice, Google Calendar and so on.
The HTC Desire phone is based on the Android 2.1, popularly called Eclair. It has a 3.7" AMOLED capacitive touch-display. It has multi-touch capability and a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor is used within. On the networking front, WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth are supported. There's integration with popular social networks like Facebook. A-GPS is also supported. There is a microUSB port for syncing with a PC. Plus memory expansion with microSD cards of up to 32GB is as well offered. Other HTC Desire specs include a multimedia player, an FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone socket, a 5MP camera.
Some of the other details in the Google Nexus One vs HTC Desire aspect are - the HTC Desire supports more number of multimedia file formats. Plus this smartphone also comes with Flash Lite 4 pre-loaded, which gives it the ability to play any video without needing downloading of other applications.
The new HTC mobile phone will be available with all the major UK networks like O2, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and 3. The HTC Desire release is expected to happen in March 2010 on T-Mobile and April 2010 on the remaining networks.
The HTC Desire price (unlocked) is mentioned to be about £440.
HTC Supersonic Android Mobile Phone Might Sport WiMAX
February 13, 2010
The HTC Supersonic is supposed to be an Android 2.1 mobile phone that HTC is still working at. This smartphone is said to support WiMAX on the Sprint network in the US when it releases.
WiMAX is a wireless communication technology that allows you to access internet on the go. The radio mast for WiMAX covers a radius of about 30 miles around it. It is thus more powerful than WiFi. However, when compared to mobile broadband (802.20), it offers lesser coverage and also uses the 2-6 GHz frequency range, when compared to the 3.5GHz used by mobile broadband.
The Supersonic is reported to have a large 4.3" touchscreen similar to that of the HTC HD2 which is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. There is also supposed to be a stand, like that of the HTC Imagio, which will enable using this mobile phone as a digital photo frame.
The HTC Supersonic is also mentioned to sport the HTC Sense user interface. The Snapdragon processor is said to be employed in this handheld. Therefore, one can expect speedy processing from this mobile handset. A 5MP camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also supposed to be present in this device. Other details are sparse right now.
Currently, there's no news, if this smartphone will make it to the UK market with maybe a different name and slightly altered specs.
HTC Smart Mobile Phone
January 16, 2010
HTC Smart is quite different from the regular HTC Android and Windows smartphones, that we've seen till now. This mobile phone is a smartphone, and it features the Qualcomm 'Brew' operating system. HTC unveiled this handset at CES, this year.
The HTC Smart will be an affordable handheld. Moreover, it comes with the HTC Sense utility, which aims at making certain mobile phone usages, a breeze. Managing contacts and conversations, searching for information on the phone and online and socialising is all made easy with HTC Sense and its 3 main cores, namely, 'Make It Mine', 'Stay Close' and 'Discover the Unexpected'.
This mobile phone has a 2.8" LCD touchscreen. On the inside, the HTC Smart is said to have a 300MHz processor, 256MB of ROM and 256MB of ROM. A 3MP camera is also built into this device.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC has mentioned that this smartphone is a result of listening to customers and getting to know what exactly they want. Thus HTC Smart mobile phone meets the requirements of people who want a budget friendly smartphone, which is quite capable of handling daily tasks and easy to use as well. Pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
Update - The HTC Smart release is expected to happen in April 2010 and it is currently exclusive to O2.
The HTC Smart price is not yet announced. However, it is expected to be less expensive than other smartphones as it is an entry-level handset.
HTC Bravo Mobile Phone
December 18, 2009
HTC Bravo was the sole member of the 'Performance' section in the roadmap leak of HTC for 2010. So, this should be HTC's all-powerful mobile handset that will release next year. Considering that HTC has coupled the Android platform and the 1GHz Snapdragon processor in the Bravo, one can expect this smartphone to be a performer.
The handset does look very appealing with its sleek structure and pleasantly curved edges. But like most HTC handsets, this one too is draped in black. Not that its a bad choice, but it feels monotonous. Otherwise, everything that's known till now is very impressive.
Kudos to the 3.7" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of this mobile phone. Also, a 5MP camera has managed to seat itself in this gadget. And if you're thinking, "5MP? Big deal!" Then here's something to still keep you interested – the camera can record 720p videos! Then there's the regular networking & interfacing package with WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB connectivity and microSD card support. An FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a media player make the entertainment factor. There's mention of a digital compass that'll come integrated within. However, GPS ability has not been explicitly detailed.
The HTC Bravo Smartphone can be anticipated in April 2010. It seems that the phone will be referred to as the HTC Passion in the US and will be released almost 3 months earlier, in January 2010. You'll have to wait for details regarding pricing, deals and offers.
Getting to Know the HTC Legend a Little Better
December 17, 2009
The HTC Legend Smartphone is one of HTC's handsets planned for release next year. A probable successor to the HTC Hero, the Legend does seem to have inherited its looks from the former, with the raised chin and the large touchscreen. However, while the Hero was more of plastic, the Legend is supposed to have a metallic case.
The new HTC mobile handset is an Android-based gadget. Speculations are that Android v2.1 will be featured. There is an HVGA touchscreen and an optical tracker/scroller. A 600MHz Snapdragon processor is supposed to drive this handheld. Updated versions of HTC People and Footprints (ie People II and Footprints II) are expected to be integrated into this smartphone.
This gizmo will otherwise pack in 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS along with a G-Sensor and a digital compass. A 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, a media player, an FM radio and a 5MP camera are reportedly built-in too.
The HTC Legend Android Mobile Phone is reckoned to make its debut appearance in World Mobile Congress, 2010, in Barcelona, and to release sometime in March 2010. Considering that high-end phones like Nokia N900 and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 are going to be released just before this handheld, we really wonder what kind of mobile deals and mobile offers it will ship with.
