There have been other clamshells like the Nokia 2720 Fold, the Nokia 6650 Fold and the Nokia 6600 Fold mobile phones. The New Nokia 3710 Fold, like the latter 2 models supports 3G technology. This means appreciably good internet browsing speeds. Moreover it offers A-GPS capability with Nokia Maps too, similar to the Nokia 6650 Fold. This handset might not exactly function like a full-fledged sat-nav. However, it helps out with basic location based applications. This new clamshell phone looks more like an upgraded version of the 6650 Fold.

The new Nokia 3710 Fold has a main 2.2” screen on the inside, which has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. On the outer flap, there is a smaller resolution screen, which remains almost invisible. This secondary monitor displays time and maybe the missed calls, or messages received.

This entertainment gadget, has a multimedia player and an FM radio packed in it as well. There is also a 3.2 Megapixel camera with flash integrated into it. Storing of music files and photographs can be done in microSD cards, for which a slot has been provided in this cell phone. There is a secondary camera for video calling too. Exchange of data with other devices, like the PC, can be done via USB or Bluetooth.

Nokia have paid good attention to the looks and ergonomics of the Nokia 3710 Fold Clamshell Phone. It has a designed exterior, which continues on the inside. The keys are laid out with sufficient spaces between them for easy usage. The battery of this device is expected to give a talktime of 3 hours for 3G and 4 hours for GSM. Dressed in 3 shades of colours – black, pink and plum, this handset will make its way to the market during the 4th quarter of this year. It is expected to be priced at €140 (£118).

A 3.5” full touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels is present in this gadget and occupies its whole front panel. An accelerometer handles display orientation when the gizmo is rotated. Slide it open and you’ll find the landscape QWERTY keyboard, which facilitates easy texting.

This mobile phone lets you make regular GSM calls, send and receiver SMS and emails too. Browsing the internet, downloading information is a piece of cake with this cell phone, as it supports 3G HSDPA technology. Being WiFi capable, this device lets you access the internet in WiFi hotspots. With its Bluetooth ability, wireless data exchange with other devices like your PC is made possible too. It is expected to be GPS ready as well.

Internally, this phone is powered up by the OMAP3430 500/600MHz chip. It runs on the new Maemo 5 OS. This handheld boasts a whole 32GB of internal memory which can be extended up to 48GB using microSD cards. Now that is really applaud-able! The Nokia N900 5 Megapixel Camera Tablet will be released in European countries during October 2009. USA will be getting a July 2009 release on the T-Mobile network.
