Mobile Phone User Takes Orange Networks to Court, Gets Compensated

Tom Prescott 32, an Orange customer successfully convinced a county court of Brentford that his mobile phone network service provider failed in delivering reasonable service quality and besides, also not letting him out of the contract, even after he informed them of his receiving poor or no signal at all. The court awarded the Richmond-based man with a compensation of GBP500, subsequently.
Prescott, according to a Telegraph report, had sued Orange mobile phone network provider, after its refusal to end his contract of 18 months, even after his repeated complaints of not receiving adequate network coverage.
Prescott revealed to the newspaper that he had tried to cancel it, as soon as he realised that he could not get a signal, though the phone networks did not let him off the contract. He added in his statement to the newspaper that he was apprehended in queues for long periods, apart from the frequent cut offs experienced when he attempted to call.
Orange, in a statement that was made later, said that it was disheartened by the court's verdict, for its own records referred to a good use of Prescott's phone. They also stated that this case did not change their liability for any claims of this nature, in the future as well.
