Mobile Phones; Top Ten of the year 2008
January 3, 2009
Welcome 2009! And manywhere in the world, the passed year has been burned in effigy. However, manything in the world are not so delicate, as the past year to be burnt as simple as that was. Something is always there, even if burnt to ashes, would simply refuse to leave for oblivion. Take the case of the hot mobile phone wars that was one of those bizarre attributes of the past year. We had a close contest on the cards by the first week of December, as the later entries Blackberry Storm 9500 Mobile Phone and T-Mobile Google Android Mobile Phone chose to catch the bull; Apple iPhone 3G Mobile Phone by the horn. Though, the market had throughout the year heard battle cries from a good number of mobile phones, rather self-styled iPhone killers like Samsung Omnia Mobile Phone, Blackberry Bold 9000 Mobile Phone, Nokia N96 Mobile Phone, Nokia N95 Mobile Phone, etc, not one strived to post a serious threat to the throne of Apple iPhone 3G as the most popular mobile phone.
Although, the ideal mobile phone of the late was expected to accommodate all
the latest technological aspects, such as GPS, QWERTY keyboard, high-speed data download factors like HSDPA and UMTS (3G), a 5MP or 8MP digital camera, a media player that can realise numerous audio and video formats, and a good number of smart applications, the prime watchword for the year was the 'Multi-touchscreen'. This magic touchscreen was the predominant factor that practically hoisted iPhone 3G to that heights. This explains that the mass promptly voted for a simple and highly convenient user-interface, disdainly seeing through sophisticated business promoters like HSDPA, 3G, enhanced messaging features, etc or luxury oriented features like a digital camera of high sensor resolution. However, sensing the exact situation watching Google Android phone of T-Mobile gaining considerable pace in terms of popularity by presenting a novel concept; the Android operating system, Blackberry also came up with a peach, Storm. Better late than never.
If, Apple iPhone 3G Mobile Phone stands as our first choice for the top slot,
we think that it is quiet early to rate Storm, that high. The second place certainly belongs to Nokia N95 Mobile Phone that presented the best combination of all the technological niceties available then. Remember, it was not intended to be a touchscreen phone. In fact, this mobile phone was the real one that gave iPhone a run for its money. The third ranked gadget is definitely HTC Touch HD Mobile Phone that has emerged an instant hit following its launch, owing to its striking touchscreen that came driven by the patented TouchFlo technology of HTC. A good GPS receiver is an additional feather on its crown. We rate Nokia N96 Mobile Phone at the fourth place for its remarkable multimedia capabilities. This mobile phone is certainly one
mobile phone that suits a high-end roamer for its perfect bundle of fast network data download, sharp multimedia, sublime camera and GPS, in a perfect large widescreen foil.
The fifth placed gadget is Sony Ericsson 850i Mobile Phone that too, much like Nokia N95 offers nothing less than a kaleidoscope of the latest technological aspects. The sixth place goes to Samsung i900 Omnia Mobile Phone that boasts of a remarkable touchscreen, apart from a package of various aspects like 3G, HSDPA, 5MP camera and a dedicated multimedia player. We rate Sony Ericsson Cybershot 905 Mobile phone as the seventh ranked gadget that soured heights, owing to its extraordinary integrated digital camera that is explained by an 8MP sensor. This mobile phone that has simply thrown a decent threat to the viability of compact digital cameras, exclusively caters to the high-end easy go lucky folk, as well as aspiring shutterbugs. The synergy staged by its camera and GPS to deliver exceptional geo-tagging is worth mentioning
here. Blackberry Bold 9000 Mobile Phone comes eighth in the list with a sharp screen, remarkable interface, Push Email and a load of applications. Our choice for the ninth place in the list is T-Mobile G1 Google Android Mobile Phone that promises a good run even through the fresh year. Finally, the tenth place in the list is secured by Apple iPhone Mobile Phone that was a sensation at the time of its launch due to its 3.5 multi-touch interface and 8GB memory. It trails simply for its not engaging a fast data download standard.
