Toshiba TG02 Windows Mobile Phone
March 14, 2010
The Toshiba TG02 Mobile Phone is a successor to the Toshiba TG01 Smartphone. Most of the physical features remain the same, except for the size. The TG02 is slightly smaller than its predecessor. There are many new additions on the software front. Among all the new additions, the most noteworthy of them all, is the SPB Mobile Shell user interface.
The TG02 mobile phone runs the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS, while the older sibling ran Windows Mobile 6.1. It sports the same 4.1" 480 x 800 pixels touchscreen, but with capacitive touch ability. The TG01 had a resistive touch display. The 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor has been used in TG02 too.

The Toshiba TG02 comes with the SPB Mobile Shell which sits on top of the Windows Mobile OS. This UI takes user interaction with Windows mobile phones to a whole new level. A 3D carousel feature, enables easy selection of applications, with its circular arrangement of pages that spin at the command of your finger-tip. You an even tilt this carousel, to get a top view of the pages as well. Even contacts can supposedly be arranged in this fashion. Customisation of widgets; their arrangement on the screen; having multiple home-screens like the iPhone; adding a picture of a friend in the contacts, from a social network like Facebook, are some of the few features of the SPB Mobile Shell.
For the virtual keyboard on this Toshiba mobile phone, you can use either the Toshiba proprietary keyboard, which is finger-friendly, or the standard Windows keyboard. The Toshiba keybard will be more convenient to use, especially for those with large fingers, as the keys are well spaced.
Toshiba TG02 smartphone offers a microSD card slot, which can hold cards of up to 32GB capacity, just like the TG01.
This handheld is sleek and attractive. It is just 9.9mm thick (or rather thin!).
The Toshiba TG02 price has not yet been announced for the UK.
And currently, there's no word on the Toshiba TG02 release date in the UK too.
