Dell Streak Tablet

The Dell Streak is stepping into the market at a time when the iPad is king. Bravo Dell Streak! There's good reason for the 5-inch multi-touch screen tablet to walk into the market with its head held high as well. It is larger than regular touchscreen smartphones, but smaller than the iPad. Thus it offers something more than the average smartphone and is yet more easy to hold and carry around than the iPad. Plus, it is packed with an impressive set of specs, including some that the iPad lacks.

Dell Streak

The Dell Streak, which was earlier referred to as the Dell Mini 5, is based on Android v1.6. An upgrade to Froyo, the latest Android (2.2), is supposed to be offered later on in 2010. Like the iPad, this tablet too has a 1GHz processor running on the inside.

The screen offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This large display should give a better video and movie watching experience than the average smartphones. There's multi-touch support too. So you can pinch or expand the content. Another interesting aspect is that the screen is made of gorilla glass which makes it really rugged.

Dell Streak TabletA full fledged networking set is presented - 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. Therefore you can browse the internet or check emails at WiFi hotspots or use the service provider's network for mobile broadband. With Bluetooth, you can exchange files with other gadgets. Apart from this, there's a USB port as well for connecting to a PC or a laptop. MicroSD cards of a maximum capacity of 32GB are supported too. These cards can be used for memory expansion as well as data transfers with other devices. There's even 2GB of internal memory. GPS ability and an e-compass are also present.

The Dell Streak specs include a 5MP camera with dual LED flash and auto-focus as well. There's a front facing VGA camera for video chats too.

Some features that are offered by Dell Streak and not by the iPad - Multi-tasking; Adobe Flash with an upgrade to the latest version later on this year; camera; phone calls/video calls; USB connectivity.

Dell Streak Release Date - The tablet is supposed to be releasing this Friday, the 4th of June 2010.

Dell Streak Price - This device is supposed to cost £429. It will also be available with O2 contracts. It currently features in the coming soon list on the O2 UK website.
