Dell Thunder is one among the latest smartphones revealed by Dell. The others being the Lightning, the Flash and the Smoke. The Thunder, the Flash and the Smoke are based on Google's Android 2.1 mobile phone OS. The Lightning, on the other hand, has adopted Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 OS.
Engadget has received some leaked details of these mobile phones. The Dell Thunder smartphone portrays a 4.1" OLED touchscreen with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This handset also features the 'curved glass' finish The user interface is supposed to have got the Dell touch to it. A device meant for the socially active, the Thunder integrates apps for Twitter and Facebook. The Swype utility for enabling quick typing on the touchscreen is as well supported.
The mobile handset is said to offer support for Flash 10.1 for web videos and also a Hulu app for viewing movies and videos of TV shows from networks like NBC, Fox, ABC and others.
An 8 Megapixel snapper is integrated in this cell phone.
Not just fun-and-frolic, the Dell Thunder mobile phone also has features for helping out with official work. There's ActiveSync for syncing with your PC, a host of email services, speedy internet access (3G), support for WiFi and more. The 3G protocols, HSDPA and HSUPA, promise speeds of 7.2Mbps for down-linking and 5.76Mbps for up-linking respectively.
The Dell Thunder release date for the US has been scheduled for Q4 of this year. It is said to be available with AT&T network.
The Dell Thunder price is yet to be announced.
