The HTC HD2 Smartphone is based on the new Microsoft OS - Windows Mobile 6.5. It has a large capacitive touchscreen with a diagonal measure of 4.3" and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Like the Apple iPhone, you can use gestures like pinching, stretching, flipping and more for operating it. This gadget is the first HTC WinMo handheld to feature the HTC Sense user interface. All other HTC phones that did were Android based. This feature makes organizing information, searching, maintaining contacts very simple. The built-in accelerometer allows auto-rotation of the display.

Internally, this mobile handset is powered by the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is currently the fastest mobile phone processor available in the market. Apart from the 512MB of in-phone memory, you can as well use the microSD cards for storing data. These cards can be used for data sharing too. Syncing and linking with other devices can even be done using the Bluetooth ability and the microUSB port present in this gizmo.

This handheld is WiFi ready. You can thus access the internet at WiFi hotspots. It is 3G capable too, allowing a downloading speed of 7.2 Mbps and an uploading speed of 2Mbps. A multimedia player and an FM radio are present within this enterprise mobile phone. You can listen to the music using the 3.5mm headphone socket of this cell phone. A digital compass, a GPS antenna and the HTC Footprints software all help with navigation/location based services. Even social networking and photographs & video sharing can be done using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more. A 5MP camera with autofocus & dual LED flash has been integrated into this gadget too.

A talktime of 5+ hours, video playback of 8 hours and audio playback of 12 hours can be anticipated from this mobile handset. The HTC HD2 WinMo 6.5 Mobile Phone is expected to be available with network operators like O2 and T-Mobile by the end of this month. It is speculated to be priced at £549.99.

Updates (23 November 2009) - The HTC HD2 is available with O2 and Vodafone. With O2 the handset comes for free with an 18-month contract and a £45 monthly rental. The Vodafone contract, on the other hand (the phone is free here as well), binds you for 2 years and costs £35 a month.
