HTC Magic Smartphone and
Samsung I7500 Smartphone are 2 of the earliest Android phones that have made their way to the market. What could be more interesting than putting them both under the eagle's eye for comparison.
Being
Android mobile phones, both HTC Magic as well as Samsung I7500 surely do offer many more features than a regular Windows Mobile Phone. They both feature 3.2" 320 x 480 pixels
touch-sensitive screens. Google's new OS provides an enhanced touchscreen interface. Hence one can expect all Android smartphones to sport touch-capable displays. Either of the phones being compared, also have built in accelerometers for automatic display rotation. Though both phones seem to have similar display monitors, there is a major difference. While HTC Magic has a TFT LCD screen, Samsung I7500 has an
AMOLED display. AMOLED screens offer more brighter and sharper pictures with wider viewing angles when compared to
TFT LCD screens. Hence Samsung I7500 scores more than HTC Magic for the display.
Coming to the
memory aspect - HTC Magic phone has a 288MB of user memory with a microSD card slot for expansion. Samsung I7500 phone has a microSD card slot for memory expansion as well. However, it has a whopping 8GB internal memory. Again, the Samsung smartphone bags the prize.
Another striking difference between the 2 cell phones is the
cameras integrated into them. The HTC Magic phone has a 3.2 Megapixel camera built into it. On the other hand the Samsung I7500 phone has a 5 Megapixel camera housed in it. Samsung's smartphone still going strong here.
There a whole load of features that are quite similar to both phones under consideration. Networking abilities of either phones include support for 3G high speed internet access, Bluetooth, GSM, EDGE and GPRS. They are also WiFi ready. Both have multimedia players for audio as well as video, built into them. GPS capabilities are offered by both the phones too, for accessing location based services. USB and headphone ports are present in either of the phones as well. The best part is that they are even priced similarly (about £600).
Turning our attention to the blessed carriers who got these handsets - HTC Magic belongs to the
Vodafone network. On the other hand Samsung I7500 has been taken by
O2 and
T-Mobile. Looks-wise, both phones do look attractive. However,
Samsung I7500 Android Mobile Phone is a wee-bit sleeker than the
HTC Magic Android Mobile Phone.
