HTC Smart Mobile Phone is a high end device that can be used to derive the best, be it for fun of for some serious stuff. The device offers several scene modes that suite our moods and purposes.
On a hard hitting and a busy day, the device brings to the user Scenes that are in fact interesting phone configurations that reflect different moods in our daily life.
On busy weekdays, the device has on its home screen a mode that helps in aiding our daily work life with applications that include email, calendar and the web browser.
On the other end, the device presents us with fun (on weekends or our free time) in the form of music, camera, and photo album panels. There's even a scene that you can personalize to fit your unique style and daily needs.
Brew® Mobile Platform with HTC Sense
TM is the operating system that the model runs on. Processor used is Qualcomm® MSM6290
TM with speed of 300 MHz that is relatively slow by modern standards, but that is okay for an entry level device such as this.
The handset itself measures 104 x 55 x 12.8mm and weighs around 108g, so it is quite small and light. Memory capacity is shared between RAM and ROM in the ratio 1:1(256 MB each).
This
HTC mobile phone gives a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen display with a native resolution of 320 x 240 pixels.
Normal calling buttons and a large back button which also serves as a home button and an application menu button occupy the bottom of the screen.
While accessing web pages, there is an additional small, offset button on the bottom edge of the screen panel which pops up options.
Its 3 MP camera (built-in LED flash) is activated by a button around the sides of the device which also positions the volume adjuster. The volume is adjustable even with a locked keypad.
The external speaker is reasonable quality and loud enough. There is also an FM radio. One of HTC's Mini-USB connections lies on the bottom, whilst a 3.5mm jack is fitted on the top.
Video capture is strictly low resolution at 320 x 240 pixels and low frame rate of 15fps.
The device is neatly packed with 3G (900/2100 MHz), GSM/GPRS/EDGE
(850/900/1800/1900 MHz). However, it does not have any WiFi which makes it a complete no no for home networks.
The connectivity is provided by Bluetooth® 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate and HTC ExtUSB
TM (11-pin mini-USB).It has a 0.35 cm. audio jack with supported microphone.
To transfer contacts from our PC to the device, the user needs to install HTC Sync on the PC. The model supports Sense which is simple to use and offers connectivity with the likes of Twitter and Facebook.
This helps in obtaining updates from the social networking sites. Apart from this Sense offers a number of other pages which you can be picked and chosen to get the information you want, swiping left and right to move across these pages.
Other goodies from this device include a weather detector that gives the weather conditions for the location, a music player panel and so on. Messaging and email are supported.
The QWERTY keyboard provides no predictive text like the T9 keyboard does. The memory is expandable with a microSD card, which is probably the best way to manage your media.
Format support is a little bare, but major music and video types are covered.
The device is charged with AC Adapter (voltage range/frequency: 100 ~ 240V AC, 50/60 Hz). Value Added Applications include HTC Sense
TM, HTC Widget, HTC Scenes, HTC Sync, Weather, Java Support and Smart Dialler.
The device's battery life is generally good and gives a good support on a single charge provided too much of music and other applications are used.
HTC Smart 2.80 inch Mobile Phone uses 1100 mAh Rechargeable Lithium-ion battery (TBC) that offers talk time up to 240 minutes and a standby time up to 120 hours for GSM. (The above are subject to network and phone usage.)
