
One of the leading manufactures of personal computers in the world, Acer has announced a fresh smartphone on Tuesday. It is apparent with this move that the second largest PC manufacturer of the world is taking another step into mobile devices market.
Acer Iconia Smart mobile phone was released this week at the Barcelona mobile world congress. This smartphone comes with a high resolution 4.8 inch display which is ideal for internet browsing. The smartphone engages the Android 2.3 Gingerbread interface. These details were revealed by the firm in a statement.
The Acer Iconia Smart, a slightly curved and thin mobile phone includes an integrated digital camera of 8MP sensor resolution with an LED flash. This phone that is driven by a Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon processor however is not yet on the market. A date for release or a price range were also not revealed by Acer for the smartphone.
The Iconia Smart alongside the beTouch series and the more trendy Liquid series of Acer adds to the growing smartphone portfolia of Acer in a global smartphone market that is dominated by titanz such as Apple, Nokia and HTC.
The 35 year old Taiwan-based maker better known for its ultra portable netbook computers has been dabbling in smartphone technology segment since its acquiring in 2008 the E-ten information systems, a maker of handheld devices.
