Android Mobile Phone Seem To Be Rising To The Top
Though Android created a big hype before it stepped into the market, the first devices to sport the Google OS failed to impress the consumer crowd. Not that they were bad smartphones. They just did not meet up with expectations when it came to performance. However, Android seems to be picking up speed and moving ahead with large paces, as there are many advantages involved. Firstly, this is a flexible platform, as it is open source. The Google team aims at helping manufacturers to direct their resources, time, money and energy in coming up with more innovative hardware and technology. They claim that this would also enable these manufacturers to imbibe newer technologies more easily.
When the first Android smartphone, HTC G1, was released, the developer community was quite unsure of how this platform would handle third party applications and make it work well with the hardware. One among the many concerns was the display resolution of the mobile handsets. They wondered how an app designed to run on the G1 would function on another Android mobile phone which presents a different resolution.
There is good news though, as the Google Android team seems to be working to make sure that the mobile OS is compatible with all kinds of mobile handhelds. Even screen resolution issues should be addressed. Developers using the Android 1.6 software development kit are given the code to be added in their application, to make the platform compatible with different resolutions. In case the developer's kit is older than the 1.6 version, then there is something called as compatibility mode which can be used to make such conformations. Thus, Android definitely seems to be working its way to the top.
