RIM (Research In Motion) had announced the launch of BBM 6 (BlackBerry Messenger 6) in last July. The first major update (v6.0.1) is also just launched.

During last March, RIM introduced BBM trend through BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform, which resulted in the launch of BBM 6. This enabled Java developers the chance to embed the communication platform into their apps.

The messaging platform was given access by BBM6 even without leaving the app. As an example, during a game app, the user is allowed to chat, which will make the game a more homely and social experience. The update introduces the Apps menu which is Explore BBM connected. The phone users get easy access to about 25 very popular BBM-connected apps.

As there is option to share with other BBM users, and not merely with those who have downloaded certain apps, it has become easy to share app contents. It is also possible to invite those with BBM v5.0 to participate in the entertainment.

Blackberry Messenger is exceedingly popular with youth, who use the Blackberry devices in preference to iPhones and Android phones due to the inclusion of the platform.

The decision to consider BBM API (Application Program Interface) has resulted in lot of apps with BBM features embedded.
