Carbon fibre considered for iPad 2 chassis
It appears as if the global tech giant Apple is seriously pondering over making the chassis of its new iPad 2 internet tablet out of carbon fibre. This move is expected to make the device sturdier and lighter than its predecessor.

According to iLounge's editior in chief, Jeremy Horowitz, he was told by an unnamed source that the firm had already manufactured shells for the new version of Apple iPad.

Last November Apple had applied for a patent for a reinforced device housing, according to suggestions one of which could end up as the case for the fresh iPad 2 that is yet to be announced. It has also been mentioned that some metals that would be essential for the case of the internet tablet may be used.

The decision of theĀ  manufacturer for using some sort of carbon fibre could culminate into a double edged sword as despite its capability of saving on weight it may not be environment friendly mainly for its using proxy fibres and resin which can hardly be recycled.
