Just as Apple has iCloud and Microsoft has Skydrive, HTC has introduced Dropbox following its association with the well known cloud storage service.
Those possessing the latest 'HTC Android' handsets, say 'HTC Rhyme' are eligible for extra 3 Gigabyte (GB) of storage apart from the free storage of 2GB which will be provided by Dropbox, when they connect with the new phone which will surface in October.
The pact will be applicable for all Sense 3.5 devices in future. Then the users can save files and photos on the phones to be automatically synchronised with their PC or other devices at home with the help of the Dropbox software.
Dropbox may increase the free storage of 2 GB to 10 GB. With HTC providing 3 GB already, not less than 10 GB of free storage is a reality.
HTC could not confirm whether its Windows Phone 7 smartphone owners will also get the same offers. It is not likely because they are already having offers from Microsoft's Skydrive to the extend of 25 GB free storage.
HTC Rhyme does have Android Sense 3.5. Other HTC phones also may incorporate Android Sense 3.5. HTC is however not sure whether the earlier Sense users will have the chance of getting the new update or the attractive features of Dropbox.
