Facebook has refreshed its web offering for the mobile phone and smartphone users. It will include three new freatures.
Facebook mobile users need not sign in and login to each social apps, games and sites using their Facebook login. Instead they have a one touch application an icon as a sign-on portal.
Facebook Places allows users to tag their location. The app has been opened up to developers. It will allow them to build the API to interface with any other social, location or application including Foursquare and Loopt.
The next feature uses the Places application. Local businesses can create special deals for Facebook users. It could be a service or a discount on stuff. Facebook users can check on it and use it and also share it with other Facebook members to avail such location based deals. For instance GAP retail chainstore and the Palm Hotel in Las Vegas, have put up offers. GAP the world-wide clothing retail network has offered 40% off on 10,000 pairs of jeans for Facebook users. So both Facebook and iPhone users get benefited invariably.
Facebook Social Network has found that more than 100 million people access the site now from their mobile phones. CEO Mark Zuckerberg ruled out building a Facebook phone during the mobile event to launch these features.
