Filching of charity money alleged on mobile companies
It has been widely alleged that atleast the money of a few people among the numerous lot that donated money to the charities through their mobile phone ended up appropriated by the mobile phone companies.

This situtation has come to the fore after some charities having complained that they were at the risk of loosing around 20 per cent of a donation made through the text message.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that fees charged by the mobile operators have been waived for the Comic Relief of this year. Incidentally the Comic Relief of 2011 has gleaned GBP 7 million from SMS donations alone.

Every major one off plea such as the once floated by the various big name charities and the Disasters Emergency Committee will enjoy the waiver of the operators' fees. Nevertheless a good number of charities are seldom free from the charges.

A few mobile network operators such as Vodafone and O2 have scrapped all such charges under the threat of a backlash from the part of the consumers.
