It is Just Not Happening For iPhone 4!
Apple iPhone 4 Burnt

iPhone 4 melts - An iPhone 4 unit is said to have caught fire, recently, when it was connected via its USB cable to a computer for charging. The owner of the iPhone 4 is said to have sustained a minor burn. The user apparently took the burnt device to an AT&T store to get a replacement. However, the network operator had none in stock, for the exchange. When this issues was taken to an Apple Store, they reportedly mentioned that the accident was due to the faulty USB port and not the carelessness of the user. BoyGeniusReport had some close associate of AT&T reveal this news to them.

Okay. It just doesn't seem like a good time for the Apple iPhone 4. Right from its testing stage, where it was left behind in a bar by one of the Apple employees working on it, till date, the new Apple gadget has seen rough days. Now you might say that - Gizmodo having found the device after it was lost, and doing a complete autopsy (Pun intended. The device was dead!) of it, have indirectly given good publicity to it. And moreover, Apple didn't have to pay a pie for this. But think of it this way, the iPhone 4 didn't have a chance to take the world by storm. At WWDC this year, when Apple CEO Steve Jobs was unveiling the device, he jokingly remarked, "Now, stop me if you've already seen this.".

iPhone Signal Problems and the "Death Grip"- Despite the pre-mature unveiling of the device by Gizmodo, the iPhone 4 did manage to woo the world with its exquisite set of specs. But the charm faded again when it went on sale on 24 June 2010. The Apple customer forums were flooded with complaints about signal bars being lost when the phone was held in the hand and non-functional buttons. A new term was also coined to describe the signal loss of the iPhone 4 when gripped - the 'death grip'. Apple's response to this was that holding any smartphone in the hand can lead to a certain amount of signal dip. This is true for the Droids, the Nokia and the RIM phones too. However, for the iPhone 4, this dip was drastic. This is because the formula employed to calculate the number of bars to be displayed on the phone was incorrect. It did not denote the signal strength accurately. The company provided a software fix for this issue, which was to be valid for the iPhone 3GS and 3G as well.

In related news, Apple's share price is said to have fallen by 4%, yesterday. However, the iPhone maker has still managed to stay ahead of Microsoft in the US Stock Market.

Despite the fix, the iPhone 4 does seem to have reception issues. Consumer Reports, a popular magazine in the US, which tests products released here, have mentioned that they cannot recommend the iPhone 4, due to the reception problems. And now there are rumours that the iPhone 4 will have to be recalled by Apple.

Not much has been heard of the recall yet, however, all these incidents are making it evident that 'it's just not happening for the iPhone 4'.
