Despite having been the first mobile phone manufacturer to release Android based
mobile handsets into the market, HTC is expecting 2009 to be not so profitable. Their first Android smartphone is the
HTC Dream, which came to be known as T-Mobile G1 in the market. Apart from this handheld, there have been 2 more mobile phones from the company that feature Google's Android. They are the
HTC Magic and
HTC Hero (T-Mobile G2 Touch).
The Taiwanese company had expected the Android mobile phones' sales to bag a 10% increase in their profits. However, they've now been let down due to the lower demand & sales of the handsets and delays in their forthcoming product portfolio, says a report in Top10.co.uk. HTC are speculating a single digit percentage loss.
This news not only spells losses for HTC, but also those Android phones that are lined up for release from other vendors;
Samsung i7500,
Motorola Heron and
LG GW620 Eve being some among them.
While HTC Dream was exclusively available on T-Mobile network, HTC Hero is available on both T-Mobile and Orange networks. The HTC Magic solely belongs to Vodafone. In the meanwhile there are rumours that High Tech Computers are planning more Android phones in the coming year. Perhaps the company will see brighter days ahead with some attractive
mobile phone offers and
deals.
