If rumours and assumptions turn out to be true, the HTC Glacier will be the fastest smartphone, the world has ever seen. Reports from Alienbabeltech indicate that this HTC smartphone will most probably be home to a dual-core Snapdragon processor. The 1GHz Snapdragon processor used in smartphones like Motorola Droid X, HTC Evo 4G, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S among others, has a single core.
Apparently a website called GLBenchmark had published results of some CPU skinning tests conducted on the HTC Glacier and other smartphones mentioned above. While this website has now removed these results, they are said to have shown the HTC Glacier to be the fastest. Though it is unsure how exactly these tests were conducted, the only detail known is that results are expressed in terms of number of frames. The results stand as follows:-
HTC Evo 4G - 516 frames
Motorola Droid X - 856 frames
Samsung Vibrant - 1409 frames
Apple iPhone 4 - 1016 frames
HTC Glacier - 1432 frames
The
HTC Glacier smartphone is said to be based on Google's Android platform; the version being a mystery now. It will most probably be a full touchscreen device and the resolution of the screen is supposed to be 800x480 pixels. Alienbabeltech, based on certain available details, also assumes that this smartphone is headed to T-Mobile and is called the T-Mobile Emerald Project. These are the only few details that have emerged at present. We'll keep you posted when we get more updates.
