Huawei bids to London Tube phone network set up
A leading global telecommunications company based in China is reportedly bidding to set up mobile phone transmitters in under ground London in time for the Olympic games of 2012. The Sunday Times has reported that the Chinese Tech giant is offering to set up the GBP 50 million mobile phone network for free as a present from one prominent Olympic nation to another.

According to the paper prominent mobile network operating in the United Kingdom, O2 and Vodafone has agreed to do the installation work, while Huawei would be hoping to make a sunstantial income in the form of maintenance fees.

A spokesman for Transport for London said that the mayor of London and Transport for London were currently engaged discussion with the mobile network operators and other providers regarding the potential mobile phone services provision on the deep Tube phone network.

The spokesman added that considering the financial pressures on the budgets of Transport for London, all solutions would require to be funded via mobile network operators with hardly any cost to fare or tax payers. He affirmed that discussions were under way.

According to Conservative party MP, Patrick Mercer an underground mobile phone network of the sort that has been already set up in Paris and Hongkong would be greatly helpful for emergency workers in case of a terror strike waged.
