In the recent announcements for iOS5, Twitter integration was highlighted, while Facebook was given little importance. All the four iPhone OS's did not have third-party application and when Apple did add features, it has chosen Twitter over the most popular Facebook.

It has been suggested that the failure of Apple-Facebook project, Ping could be reason for this. Besides, Facebook application comes with more applications which would Apple's iOS ecosystem.

Facebook app for iOS could easily sync friends to the contacts book and it offers notifications about new events and messages. On the other hand, the official Twitter app produces push notifications. With iOS 5 users could share photos and videos to the website directly. In addition users can @ mention friends from the message application and tweet from Safari.
