In the Q3 of 2011, Samsung has wrested from their competitor Apple the name for being the leading smartphone manufacturer. Thus, if the South Korean manufacturer is to carry on the same impetus, it is imperative that they overcome the injunction on the sale of Samsung's Galaxy smartphone and tablets set forth by Apple in the US court.
Judge Lucy Koh of California stated that it was not lucid whether an injunction on the said Samsung devices would avert any damage to Apple. Though this is not a permanent judgment, and there are chances that eventually Apple could win the case, this judgment does permit Samsung to carry on selling their devices at least till Christmas.
In April last year, Samsung was sued by Apple stating that their Galaxy smartphone and tablet were completely imitating Apple's iPhone and iPad. There have been many accusations and counter-accusations as a consequence of which Samsung and Apple are legally wound up in battles that consist of twenty varied cases in ten different countries.
Owing to the judgment made by the court, the market share for Samsung has only gone up by two percent, revealing the significance of the company's share in the US market, as seen by Investors and forecasters.
Samsung would have lost about 1.5 billion dollars in the Q4 had Apple been successful in availing the injunction, said analysts.
The trial is set for July 2012 when these two technical giants meet at court.
