LG has revealed its plans to keep up with the pace of Sony Ericsson that had unveiled recently Sony Ericsson Idou 12MP Camera Mobile Phone, by making its own 12MP camera phone. LG had mentioned its plans on a 12MP snapper mobile phone in the World Mobile Congress that concluded in Barcelona last week. Incidentally, Sony Ericsson had also revealed its flagship snapper model at the same venue.
If rumour mills are to be taken into account, at least one of the duo, if not both, might come with the much awaited optical zoom. The LG 12MP Camera Phone is also expected to come with Geotagging, Image Stabilisation and Picture Blogging features, apart from in-phone image editing features. A xenon flash is also on the cards.
The new LG phone would largely be a touchscreen mobile phone following suit, the Apple iPhone line. However, one can expect some dedicated camera keys on it. LG's UK marketing chief recently said to a technology website that the traditional megapixel race was the thing responsible for urging the company to release a 12MP camera phone.
Lately, there has been a notion prevailing in the market that mobile phones with high resolution built-in cameras would edge out compact or point and shoot digital cameras. Many believe that, though this is not the situation prevailing now, with the packing of optical zoom feature in the mobile phones, this might happen with immediate effect.
LG has not yet released any code names for the new model. However, they have hinted that the flagship model would hit the market at some point this year with some exciting promotional offers.
