LG have announced their new smartphone which houses a detachable pico projector - the LG eXpo Smartphone. This is a slider phone with a 3.2" touchscreen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The projector sits on its back making it look like its carrying a back-pack. It is powered internally by the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and the 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Other features include WiFi connectivity, HSDPA capability, A-GPS and microSD card memory expansion. A 5MP camera is also packed inside. A fingerprint recognizer which LG prefers to call Smart Sensor, performs security checks for using it. Something that's new to mobile phones!

The LG eXpo Pico Projector Mobile Handset has been dated for a release on 7th of December in the US. It will be exclusive to the AT&T carrier. A UK release has not yet been mentioned.
