LG set to release 3D smartphone of 6 mm next year
The smartphones with auto stereoscopic screen emerged for the first time in Japan last year. This year saw the release of two such phones in more advanced forms. The phones referred are 'HTC EVO 3D' and 'LG Optimus 3D'.

Dr. Henry Noh of LG says that it is difficult to make a comparison among the various types of smartphones. However 3D phones stand out from the rest. But that advantage cannot be translated into sales unless the cost of 3D phones is restricted.

12 mm is the standard thickness of smartphones at present. Slim phones of 6 mm will call the shot in future. Optimus 3D is slightly thicker at 7 mm. Noh is confident of releasing 'Optimus 3D 2' of 6 mm sometime next year.

In future, with the advancement of technology, there may be 3D phones much slimmer, but for the time being we feel 7 mm or 6mm is indeed extremely thin for a mobile phone.
