Market share of Nokia dips to its 14 year lowest
The mobile phone market share of the mobile phone production giant Nokia has reportedly plummeted to 25 per cent in the first quarter of 2011. This refers to a drop from this time last year's 30.6 per cent, according to research firm Gartner.

The reports said that the consumers who purchased 427.8 million mobile phones in total in the quarter one of 2011, which is clearly up by 19 per cent from the first quarter of 2010.

Incidentally, 23.6 per cent of the overall sales world wide in that period was dominated by smartphones. This shows a rise of 85 per cent year on year.

Meanwhile, the strongest quarter ever was experienced by another leading global mobile phone maker, Samsung, with the launch of its new Samsung Galaxy internet tablet.

Likewise 16.9 million Apple gadgets were sold by Apple, which shows a doubling up of its iPhone mobile phone sales year on year. Incidentally, 9.3 million units were sold by another leading player of the mobile phone market year on year.
