Mobile data technology has not yet reached 4G
There is an inclination widespread towards dubbing any latest mobile broadband technology standard as 4G. Although it is wrong on the same.

This trait is more common with the leading mobile networks, mobile broadband suppliers and various wireless data technology firms.

A latest example for this has been the CTO of Ericsson affirming long term evaluation technology (LTE) as 4G. LTE is one of the state-of-the-art mobile data technology, which is fast emerging popular across the countries of the world.

Meanwhile LTE, is reality is more of an enhancement or upgrade of the already popular 3G technology. 3G technology is typically highlighted by standards such as UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA and HSPA+.

When it is said that LTE is an upgrade of the existing 3G technology, it points to the same way the 2G technology has an enhancement in EDGE. While 3G technology standards are capable of delivering mobile boardband speeds of between 2Mbps and 14 Mbps, LTE-based services are potential of delivering wireless internet access speeds of up to 40 Mbps.

The other part of this story is that all those mobile gadgets and devices that come boosting of 4G capabilities are not exactly 4G devices. This points to a clear case of misinformation.
