One of the main mobile phone operators in Europe, Orange, has come up with a new scheme to recycle old mobile phones. To promote this new scheme, they conducted a study among the Brits based on the theory that every Brit had an old mobile phone. It was reported earlier that the mobile phone accounts in Britain are high when compared to the number of people.
The study has revealed that almost all British homes have unused phones and the estimated cost of that possibly will be approximately 2.7 billion pounds. The research has also disclosed that nearly 32% of British people are ignorant of the fact that they could recycle their old and unused mobile phones.
It has been found out that 40% of the people have not recycled an old phone and 24% never thought about such an opening. Most of the people held on to their old phones for sentimental reasons and this was even high amongst the people in the age group of 18 to 24.
The prices offered by Orange on old handsets too were good, ranging from 45 pounds sterling to even 252 pounds.
