Motorola's sale of tablets not as much as expected
Motorola sold 100,000 XOOM tablets in the last quarter. It is below its target. In other words it is unable to compete with iPad of Apple. It sold 11.6 million mobile devices of which 4.8 million smartphones. Last year during the same period, that is the third quarter of 2010, the sale of mobile devices was to the tune of 9.1 million mobile devices of which 3.8 million are smartphones.

Apple managed to sell 122,000 iPads and about 17 million iPhones in the third quarter of the current year.

Motorola is planning to make XOOM 2 tablets expecting to get much patronage from the public.

In the meantime there is news that Motorola is going to be taken over by Google very shortly.
