A latest Business Week report states that a senior engineer and expert in antenna designs, Ruben Caballero, working for Apple, had raised concerns about signal reception with the antenna design of the iPhone 4.
The human body is said to be a lossy conductor. This means that the radiations sent or received by the
mobile phone are bound to be conducted through the body. But since it is not a good conductor, there will be absorption or loss in the signal. Since the antenna is located on the rim of the iPhone 4, where it is bound to be touched by the palm, you should expect loss in signal strength. But Apple did not heed to the words of Caballero. And today they are paying the price very dearly.
The iPhone 4 signal reception issue is all over the web now. With Consumer Reports not recommending the iPhone 4, the company has fallen down on the stock exchange ladder. However, the magazine does state that the usage of bumpers reduces the signal strength loss, when gripped in the palm.
Apple have now convened a Press Conference to discuss the iPhone 4 at their headquarters at California, on 16 July 2010. We'll keep you posted about the happenings.
