Nokia, which was once the top international mobile phone brand, is nowhere to be seen in the mobile phone market today. It has been overshadowed by Apple, Google, HTC and Samsung among others.
In 2009, Nokia's had very few high-end phones coming to the market. Since the end of last year, Nokia maintained low profile and released more of the low-end mobile handsets into the market. The step-down of Nokia in the market is attributed by analysts to the lack of a strong online store which can compete with the likes of the Apple App Store and Google's Android Market. Despite Nokia having the Ovi Store, it is, according to many, not up to scratch. The apps are not as interesting as the ones in the other application stores.

So will there be any more mobile phones from Nokia this year? Nokia does have plans of bringing some high end smartphones to the market. There's news that the mobile phone maker might be working on the next Symbian platform, the Symbian^4. What exactly it will include is yet to be known though. The company is also said to be focusing on the laptop market, with plans of launching netbooks and laptops with the MeeGo platform.
Will the new platforms that Nokia is supposedly working on, shine up their prospects. We'll need to watch out for this.
