Operators accused by GiffGaff head of handcuffing users
The chief executive officer at MVNO said that the networks of the United Kingdom were barring the choice of the consumers by rolling out locked mobile phones.

The mobile consumers of the United Kingdom, according to Mike Fairman the chief executive officer at GiffGaff, were being held as hostages by the mobile network operators of the United Kingdom. This statement was made by the executive after it was revealed by a research carried out by YouGov that currently 25 million users had locked handsets.

Fairman said that networks were also making a fortune of the consumers by charging upto GBP 17 for unlocking a mobile phone, which meant that that service itself could amount to GBP 430 million in total.

The service that was conducted by the popular research agency, YouGov amongst 2019 respondents (adults) on behalf of Giff Gaff showed that users were missing out on the best contracts, according to the company's chief executive.

The procidure of selling mobile handsets locked at a particular mobile network or as it is called by the industry-SIM locking could be having a major impact on the ability of the users to get the market's best deal.
