
The mobile network arm of France Telecom, Orange UK has integrated the flagship mobile operating system of Microsoft with its own billing platform. This allows the consumers of Windows phone 7 smartphones to add the price of the purchansed content to their mobile phone bill.
This functionality that debuted this week in France is expected to be introduced in the United Kingdom in the near future. The users are allowed by this offering to track on costs for all purchased content in the Windows phone market, to their Orange bill.
Orange becomes Europe's first operator to integrated its billing with the Windows phone content, although the subject had been a hot one in conversations last week in Barcelona.
Orange UK's vice president of strategic partnerships, Xavier Perret said that it was a new step ahead in their partnership with Microsoft on the Windows phone 7 OS. He added that the move would allow their customers enjoy genuine benefits of their content purchased from the Windows phone store by providing them with a more secure and simpler method of payment.
Another prominent mobile network operator of the United Kingdom, O2, in related news has tapped up My-Pay, a provider of mobile payments for an array of automatic top-up services to be offered to 8 million prepaid customers of the mobile carriers.
