Orange moves into the financial sector with Orange Cash launch
Orange, one of the promient mobile networks operating in the United Kingdom is apparently targeting first time holders of bank cards, holiday makers and students with what it claims to be the first significant contactless prepaid payment card of Britain.

This initiative by Orange dubbed Orange Cash combines a prepaid payment card with loyalty scheme for the network. Using this card 1 point per GBP spent can be earned by the customers, which can then be redeemed by them against an array of rewards from Orange such as Orange pay as you go texts, credit, airtime or short vouchers from Orange.

Orange is launching the its Orange Cash through a tie up with PayPass contactless technology of MasterCard that enables the customers to make purchases under GBP 15 in retail outlets participating in the scheme. According to Orange this card can be used at over 30 million locations in Britain and abroad, as well as on the internet.

The price of the card is GBP 5 and it can be lowered with up to GBP 5,000 through PayPoint top-up points, Orange stores, post offices and over the internet. The customers of Orange Cash will be allowed to manage their account on the internet and through a pay as you go Orange mobile phone.

The launch of Orange Cash follows the launch of the contactless credit card of Orange in 2010, besides the deployment of a contactless commercial mobile payements service on the network of Orange.
