
Orange reported that as per its survey, 83% of the small-to-medium size enterprises (SMEs) expect the next year to be as prosperous as the current year if not better.
Last year 76% had the same opinion.
79% of the SMEs believe that their business had improved during the current year.
But the shadow of recession and fear of business turmoil cannot be ruled out. Some of the businesses do anticipate bad times.
70% of the establishments are cautious and do not want to increase their staff strength and the overheads. The establishments intend to invest their profit straight away into the business. 89% want to spend more amount on communication technology. Last year only 52% wanted to do so.
The establishments want the employees to be familiar with IT-enabled services. The employees are expected to surf internet, send/receive mails, handle office documents etc even while on the move. Thus the usage of mobile phones, tablets, internet etc is on the rise abnormally.
19% of the companies are of the opinion that the London Olympics of 2012 will give a boost to their business. 37% of them do not mind to alter working hours of the company for the benefit of their staff interested in watching it.
Martin Stiven of Orange is happy that despite the unpredictable financial conditions of the future, the SMEs are going ahead with their plans. The companies should make best use of the latest communication technologies to enhance their business.
