Near Field Communication technology or NFC has been for long pursued by a number of mobile phone makers with Nokia at the forefront. Nokia had, as a matter of fact, launched its 6131 with NFC technology on board.

Nevertheless, things are expecting to take a major step ahead as it has been announced that NFC technology specialist Proxama will be teaming up with Nokia on developing Nokia smartphones with next generation NFC applications.

Of the initial smartphones developed as part of the Nokia-Proxama partnership, will be the Nokia C7 smartphone. It may also be reasonable to say that the C7 could be the first NFC integrated Nokia smartphone.

However, there are also issues with the NFC technology. One problem is that NFC needs a number of different components for coming together to be of any value realistically.

For instance, mobile phone makers can integrate NFC capability to their mobile phones but if there is hardly anything for actually scanning or interacting with. This largly reflects a waste of effort.
