ROK TV now lets people in the UK view certain Freeview channels on their mobile phones! That too for FREE! UK residents can view TV on the move on their mobile handsets.
For this to work, a ROK TV application needs to be downloaded on to your mobile phones first. The service can run on 3G as well as GPRS mobile phones. Phones from a wide variety of brands can use this service.
Currently, ROK TV is in its beta mode and hence only limited mobile phones can make use of it, at a given time. Plus, there are only 4 channels available at present - BBC One, BBC Two, ROK Tube and 4. Once the service goes into full mode release, the company expects to be able to support a larger audience for the Freeview TV. There will as well be more number of channels added to the list.
ROK TV is carrier-independent as well. Hence it does not matter which mobile network you are tied up with.
