Samsung and HTC top the list of smartphone manufacturers
According to comparison website 'Broadband Genie', Samsung has overtaken Apple as the most superior and popular smartphone manufacturer in the UK. As per the latest figures, 33% of the smartphones sold were of Samsung make. Apple could take only the third place with a sale of 9%. HTC came second with 32%.

Surprisingly Apple's 'iPhone 3GS' continues to be the leader among the smartphones though released 30 months ago.

Stiff competition is going on among the smartphones, as never before, for sales. LG. Sony Ericsson and Blackberry are doing good business, apart from Nokia's Windows Phone. In fact there has never been such a high demand for smartphones as of now.

With so much competition, the manufacturers are doing their best to bring out most distinctive and alluring product apart from technically advanced. This is necessary to put an end to the monopoly of Samsung, HTC and Apple.

In the meantime, Samsung is on a legal battle against Apple for infringement of intellectual property rights. On return, Apple has filed cases against Samsung in various courts including in Germany.

Currently Samsung and HTC continue to be the leaders in the market. According to Ciaron Dunne of Broadband Gennie, the whole of 2011 has been fruitful for both the

handset manufacturers. Their combined sale is equal to the total sale of Sony Ericsson, BlackBerry, Nokia and Apple together.
