Recently some software updates were unveiled for HTC smartphones. One of them was pertaining to fixing of a security error. By the time the users started installing the update, there emerged some flaws in the security, this time, in WiMAX 4 G radios.

The root of the issue is that in HTC WiMAX phones a couple of ports are kept open for

WiMAX diagnostics. As there is no authentication on these, any app that is granted permission through internet will be connected to these ports. These apps modify WiMAX settings. In short, the radio will be made useless.

HTC has been informed about the problem. HTC is in fact making ready fresh updates. In the meantime the users themselves can solve the problem, if they cannot wait for the update, by preventing the unauthorized connections to WiMAX.
