According to sources, T-Mobile has sold personal information about their customers to third party companies. Suspicions rose when many T-Mobile customers, whose contracts with the mobile network operator was soon coming to an end, were contacted by other vendors for signing up contracts.

The staff responsible for the data breach will be prosecuted by the office of the U.K.'s Information Commissioner Christopher Graham. They would be fined a heavy amount. However, there will not be any jail sentence, say sources. There's information that the company was unaware of the offence before customer complaints.

T-Mobile and Orange merger news had been out a while ago. The now fourth and third largest mobile networks in the UK respectively, will actually turn to be the largest network operator after the merger. But offences like these, might make consumers think twice before signing contracts.
