
An explosion of smartphone sales across the world has reportedly the mobile phone market of the planet grow to 371.8 million units (by 19.8 per cent) in quarter one of 2011, compared to the same time, in the pervious year.
This information has been given by the report from a research carried out by IDC, one of the popular research agencies operating globally.
It has been given by the research report that the mobile phone carriers and manufacturers were increasingly making smartphones affordable for a vast range of people that has in its turn helped in driving the market to fresh heights according to IDC.
A senior study analyst at the mobile phone technology and trends division of IDC, Ramon Llamas stated that the surge in the sales of smartphones was placing pressure on the feature phones.
According to Llamas even popular devices for quick messaging such as QWERTY keyboard mobile phones that were once a bright spot in the market of feature phones, seem to be losing steam with the smartphones gaining popularity alongside them.
