Abandoning a three-year exclusive contract with Phones4U, which had turned out to be a bitter rival, in the later times, Vodafone is all set to return to Carphone Warehouse, mainly with a view to boost its position in the extremely competitive UK mobile market.
The consolidation of relations between the largest indipendent handset retailer in the UK and the second biggest mobile phone network in the country is believed to be announced today to the staff of Carphone Warehouse. This inhere that the 820 shop network of the the retailer will start offering Vodafone contracts from next week.
The new UK boss of Vodafone, Guy Laurence had admitted in May this year that the experiment with Phones4U had not worked upto expectations as the latter was found stretching sales targets. Ever since, Vodafone had been involved in deep talks with Carphone Warehouse over the renewal of their previous working bond.
For Vodafone, it might just prove as a stepping stone to catch up with its rivals such as O2 in the market, where it had been losing grounds considerably in the recent times. Meanwhile, Phones4U would definitely press the panic buttons for this colossal loss at a time when the retail chain was hit by the hostile economic condition, besides the cutthroat competition from the exclusive stores of mobile networks and Carphone Warehouse itself.
