Last day Sony Ericsson had confirmed delay for the launch of its new Xperia Neo mobile phone for the United Kingdom, as there is no shortage of demand for the other Xperia model the Arc. As per latest reports the Neo would be shipped in the United Kingdom by the third quarter.
The chief officer for marketing at Sony Ericsson, Steve Walker told a website the delay has been due to the issues in Japan after the earthquake and the tsunami in March. This had let to a shortage of crucial components of the Neo mobile phone.
This has been cited by Walker as the reason for the Neo's delayed launch in the United Kingdom, which was to make sure that they could continue the supply of the Xperia Arc with a view to meeting the demand.
It is also noteworthy that the Xperia Arc mobile phone uses a good number of components used in the Neo. This factor also added up to forcing Sony Ericsson take the decision to delay the Neo launch.
Meanwhile, the delay in scaling back the manufacturing of the Neo mobile phone untill the components supply is reverted to normal, which is expected to take place by June in 2011.
