It seems like Nokia wanted a break from making top-notch, technology packed mobile phones. Their latest mobile offers lined up for release soon - Nokia 2690, Nokia 2220 Slide, Nokia 1616 and Nokia 1800 are indicative of this. These handhelds offer basic essentials, thus keeping prices highly wallet friendly.

The Nokia 1616 Mobile Phone is a classic candybar. It has a 1.8" screen with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The alpha-numeric keypad is dust resistant. It is a dual band GSM handheld. Perhaps the only feature this device has that sets it apart from most of the other handsets is its flashlight. An FM radio is the only source of music. There is a headphone socket as well as a speakerphone housed in the gadget. You'll have to however, explicitly buy a pair of headsets. Services like Nokia Life Tools are offered in select markets only. Another attraction in this handheld is its battery life. You'll get 8.5 hours of talktime and 22 days on standby. This cell phone is available in 4 inter-changeable coloured covers - blue, red, black and gray. Most probably this device would hit markets during the first quarter next year. Mobile phone deals are expected to cost just €24!
The Nokia 1800 Mobile Phone is also a monoblock with almost the same set of specifications like the Nokia 1616. However, it costs €2 extra, i.e. it will sell for €26 when it releases during the second quarter of 2010. The major difference between the 2 handhelds that brings about the additional €2 is the wired headphone set that ships with the Nokia 1800. Otherwise, this mobile phone offers a similar sized screen, the same battery life, dual band GSM capability and the same set of coloured covers as the Nokia 1616.
