The Nokia C6 mobile phone is yet another device for the socially active. We wouldn't really call this device an outstanding one, as it offers almost the same set of specs that a present-day touchscreen smartphone does. Moreover, the naming convention "C6" indicates that this is a mid-range handset belonging to Nokia's Core series. This handset looks like a cousin of the Nokia N97.

A 3.2-inch 360x640 pixel-touchscreen with 3 keys at the bottom, make up the facade. Slide it out and you'll see the QWERTY keyboard beneath. The home screen is customisable and you can put widgets of frequently used apps on it. On the inside this smartphone is powered by the Symbian S60 5.0 OS.

The Nokia C6 is equipped with all the networking options that one will need to socialise anywhere, anytime. First of all, there are shortcuts for networks like Facebook. Then there's 3.5G, GPRS and EDGE support. Hence you can connect to the internet at high speeds where the HSDPA (3.5G) signals are available; or rely on the slower EDGE and GPRS in areas devoid of 3.5G signals. It is WiFi-ready too. Hence hotspots can be used for browsing the internet as well. The GPS ability and Ovi maps can help you out with location based queries too.

The Nokia C6 specs also include a 5MP camera with flash and autofocus. A media player, an FM radio and a 3.5mm headphone jack are integrated in this gadget. There's access to the Ovi store for more. You can transfer music files, photographs, videos and more, back and forth with other devices using Bluetooth or microSD cards. These cards serve the purpose of memory expansion as well. A 2GB card even ships with the mobile phone offer. This handheld is equipt with a micro-USB port too, for charging and for exchanging data with a PC.

The battery life claimed is about 5 hours for talk using 3G signals; 7 hours using 2G signals and 16 days on stand-by.

The exact Nokia C6 release date is yet to be announced. However, this phone should be out in Q2 of 2010.
