"If there are a hundred of you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred, and if a thousand, they will vanquish two thousand." Remember this line?
Ah, Mr. Salisbury. That's a pleasant surprise; actually I just thought about you. Thought what you'd done in India, for unfortunately it hadn't turned out nice for you or your Barmy Army.
I sense sarcasm in your lines boy. Anyway, it was not too bad either. The boys did give a thorough fight. And mind you, here there can be only one winner. And no regrets; losing to the heroics of a legend.
Sachin Tendulkar?
Obviously, I just can't think of a nobler personality in world cricket. Truly a legend, on or off the cricket ground.
Mr. Salisbury, and hit by Stockholm syndrome?
I don't care. I am still under a spell. His speech after the conclusion of the Chennai test, the way he dedicated his innings to the victims of the terrorist attack. Overwhelming! Certainly, an ambassador for world peace, quiet unlike those religious mobile phones of that part of the world.
Religious Mobile Phones?
Yes, that's how they call them. Definitely, not intended for creating harmony. What more, most of them coming from the same dubious part of the world that is infamous for spawning out scores of spurious dud technological contraptions; China. To start with an MK Holy Quran Mobile Phone manufactured by a company called Shenzhen Bosunton Technology, Co Ltd. In their website they make it clear that they are targeting the 19.7 % Muslim population of the world. That's understandable; the obscure part however, is what communism has to do with religions.
That is really interesting. Please go on, Mr. Salisbury.
Another mobile phone manufacturing company based in Singapore; Ilkone Asia Pte Ltd has launched Ilkone I-800 Islamic Mobile Phone, in the Middle East, which presents complete Quran in Uthmanic colour font. Normally, it's not something of grave concern, but considering the situation prevailing in that region of the globe, any step taken, whichever segment that happens, if that in anyway encourage segregation, is certainly not called for. Take the case of India. You have the age old Hindu-Islamic rivalry still prevailing or rather straddling the sub-continent, apart from the increasing intolerance of the majority Hindus towards Christians as well, which recently culminated in the holocaust of Orissa. A mobile phone company called Pratham Telecom has emerged from thin air right amidst the turmoil, announcing its arrival by introducing a Hindu religious mobile phone called Bleu 466X Ramayan Mobile Phone.
Definitely, not good intentions. Mr. Salisbury.
To add to all these, you also have a number of Buddhist mobile phones, lead by a Buddhist Gold Mobile Phone, designed by another Chinese manufacturer. What has Buddha to do with gold? Rather, what have communists to do with Buddha? It is quiet contradictory that the notorious Indo-Sino rivalry started in Buddhist backdrops way back, when India backed the Dalai Lama in the sixties. Wonder what Nokia has to do here by plating their Nokia N73 Mobile Phone in 24K gold and donning it with Buddha themes? Fishing in troubled waters? Let not the world say that Nokia goes the Chinese way.
I agree Mr. Salisbury, mobile phones certainly must be used to unite mankind, to encourage co-operation, to evoke camaraderie. Using them as segregationist machines should be denounced at any cost. And considering nothing less than a volcano is brewing in that partÂ…
You conceived it right boy, there is no assurance for peoples' lives over there these days. The good people there, in the wake of the Mumbai terrorist strikes, have railed over everything; pandering politicians, terrorists, ineffective system, all. Anything and everything, apart from the real cause; the schools of religious fundamentalism that still function with zest in the world, churning out segregationists prolifically. God and humanity are languishing in chains there, set by the agents of separatism and discrimination. If they are run out of Gandhis, they definitely need Tendulkars today.
Right thinking, Mr. Salisbury. But one clarification needed, on the very lines uttered by you when you had come in, stating sort of killing thousands with hundredsÂ….
Thanks for reminding boy. That is a Koranic verse that was found written in 9/11 terrorists' leader Muhammad Ata's dairy. Another gracious way to appease God eh?
